AVIC x Fundamental Edge
Stock Pitch Competition - Spring 2026

Welcome to the Arizona State University AVIC x Fundamental Edge Stock Pitch Competition. This is an opportunity for all undergraduate students to learn more about professional equity research and try their hand at crafting their own investment thesis.

The competition is open to all university undergraduate students across the United States and internationally. Teams are allowed to cross-register with undergraduates from any school and are able to register in groups of 1-4.

Every student who registers will have access to introductory materials provide by the Fundamental Edge, the competition's sponsor. Fundamental Edge is led by Arizona State alumnus Brett Caughran, a former Analyst & Portfolio Manager at Maverick Capital, D.E. Shaw, Citadel, and Schonfeld. IMPORTANT DATES:

  • One-pager first round submission

    • Opens Feb. 11th, Closes Feb. 18th​

  • Top 5 finalists announced Feb. 23rd

  • Final deck due Feb. 26th

  • Final round competition (remote) Feb. 27th

Rules, Logistics & Prizes

Form a team of 1-4 students and select a publicly-traded equity on any exchange with a market capitalization of at least $500 million USD. Employ fundamental analysis to uncover an investment opportunity you believe could generate an attractive risk/reward outcome based on a differentiated view versus market-implied expectations. Ideas can be long or short investments.

First Round Submission: Executive Summary

  • Prepare a 1 page executive summary of your pitch in PDF format. Include a company summary, clearly articulated investment thesis, qualitative and quantitative analyses, and an assessment of potential risks and catalysts.

Final Round Presentations: Stock Pitch Presentation

  • Five finalists will be selected to pitch to a group of judges remotely on Feb. 27th

  • Teams will have 12 minutes to present followed by a 5 minute Q&A

  • 1st Place - $1,500 with free Fundamental Edge Analyst Academy
  • 2nd Place - $1,000
  • 3rd Place - $500
